JMS student Hannah Ly selected for DJNF internship
Hannah Ly, a fourth-year journalism major with a minor in marketing, has been selected for the highly competitive Dow Jones News Fund Internship. Ly will serve as a multiplatform editing intern at the Los Angeles Times this summer.
The Dow Jones News Fund, known for its nearly six-decade legacy of preparing thousands of journalists and journalism educators for careers in leading American media, recently announced the most recent class of interns. Out of a competitive pool of over 1,000 applicants, Ly was one of 86 college students from 55 universities nationwide chosen for this honor. This year's program continues its mission of cultivating the next generation of newsroom leaders.
Preparing students for success, DJNF places interns in cohorts at universities for intensive pre-internship training. Ly will join 16 other candidates at The University of Texas at Austin before embarking on her internship at the Los Angeles Times.
“I'm deeply honored to be selected as the Los Angeles Times' sole Dow Jones News Fund multiplatform editing intern this summer. I'm incredibly grateful for all of the opportunities during my undergraduate journey,” said Ly. “This is an exciting new chapter of my life, and I'm looking forward to learning from a prestigious program and company — and I'm proud I'm representing San Diego State while doing so.”
Temple Northup, director of the School of Journalism and Media Studies, could not be prouder of Ly's achievement.
“This is the latest example of our students being recognized for being among the best in the nation,” commented Northup. “ I cannot wait to see the work she produces over the summer at the Los Angeles Times and then where her career takes her from there.”
