SDSU School of Art and Design Welcomes Sara Saghafi Moghaddam

The SDSU School of Art and Design is pleased to announce that Saghafi Moghaddam will join the School as assistant professor of interior architecture.
Sara comes to SDSU from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where she earned a doctorate in Architecture and Design Research and taught VRchitecture, a course focused on 3D immersive technologies and extended reality.
Sara’s doctoral research developed innovative workflows integrating 3D immersive technologies into the early stages of the design process to enhance spatial understanding, ideation, and decision-making. Building on this foundation, her broader work explores the integration of computational design and digital fabrication, with a particular interest in AI-assisted ideation and material-driven computational approaches for sustainable and human-centered design.
In addition to academic work, she has professional experience with architectural firms on projects ranging from residential, cultural, and educational spaces to urban design.
