PSFA’s College Council to host entrepreneurship event with Student Success Fee Award
The student-run PSFA College Council will host alumnus Cecil Magpuri speaking to students about entrepreneurship in the creative fields, thanks to an award from the Student Success Fee Fund.
On Wednesday, April 19, School of Art and Design alumnus Cecil Magpuri will speak to students at the invitation of the Professional Studies and Fine Arts College Council.
Magpuri will visit SDSU’s Digital Humanities Center to deliver a talk on entrepreneurship in creative fields.
Cecil Magpuri graduated in 1991 from SDSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Design with an emphasis in Environmental Design. He served as the creative director of Universal Studios before he co-founded Falcon’s Beyond Global, an experiential entertainment development enterprise. Magpuri now serves as CEO of Falcon’s Beyond and sits on the company’s board of directors.
During his time in the creative entertainment industry, Magpuri has created over 30 patents and technologies used in theme parks, resorts, the film industry, and more.
The event will be split into two talks. From 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Magpuri will give his first talk focused on the creative arts and what students can do with their degree after graduating. He will then speak from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on business entrepreneurship, offering insights into how to start and successfully operate a business.
In order to make this event a reality, the council applied for and received an award from the Student Success Fee Fund. The event was organized and will be managed solely by students, as the council is an organization run by PSFA students.
The council’s purpose is to promote a sense of community, career development, and advocacy for students. They work closely with Associated Students and members of the student body to represent PSFA students positively.
