Outstanding Student: Camilla Trejo, L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality & Tourism Management
Reflecting on her tough adjustment after graduating in 2020, Camilla Trejo recognizes her growth and dedication toward her career despite challenges and difficulties.
While double majoring and maintaining a full-time job, Trejo experienced challenges in managing coursework and maintaining extracurriculars. However, she used these tests to empower her rather than let them hold her back. “This challenge showed me that anything is possible and that if I set my heart to something I can achieve it; I was able to complete two completely different majors in four years,” she said.
With an emphasis in hotel operations, she has had a variety of opportunities that have opened the door to the hotel and hospitality industry. “I have been fortunate enough to be very involved in the industry from working at a hotel to attending different conferences and events. Making connections with professionals in the industry has allowed me to learn from them and see all the different paths to hotel ownership.”
One day she hopes to own a hotel of her own and utilize all that she's learned to make it a successful venture.
