JMS first-year students score big with behind-the-scenes tour of Petco Park
First-year students living in the JMS living/learning residential community hit a home run to kick off the semester as they got an exclusive tour of Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres.
Guided by JMS alumnus Bill Johnston, Vice President of Community Relations for the Padres, students got an in-depth tour of places usually not accessible to the public, including the press box.
The behind-the-scenes experience included seeing all it takes to produce a Padres game, from the radio and television broadcast booths to the control center for everything that happens throughout the stadium to make the game fun and engaging.
Erik Meyers, the Vice President of Broadcasting, gave the group a tour of the broadcasting room, where Padres producers and managers were preparing for the Padres vs. Giants game.
JMS students also had the chance to meet broadcasting and entertainment professionals, asking them about their roles and how they got into sports broadcasting. The experience showed students how their degrees could lead to exciting careers in the industry.
Thanks to everyone at Petco Park for this incredible opportunity! Go Padres!
