Yin Yu, an assistant professor from the School of Art and Design, mentored undergraduate students from Interior Architecture and Electrical Engineering who collaborated to create new soft robotic devices inspired by peacocks and passion flowers. Their project combines electrical engineering and experimenting with silicone-based materials to synchronize movement with music and heartbeats. As part of SDSU's Summer Undergraduate Research Program, the students received a stipend and worked closely with their faculty mentor to pursue their creative ideas over the course of 10 weeks.
