During the week of Oct. 18, 2021, College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts champions including alumni and donors will explore Manhattan on an exclusive, special-access Broadway trip with PSFA Dean Peggy Shannon. Travelers will see two Broadway shows and get an intimate look at the inner workings of the shows and performers as Broadway once again opens to the world.

The trip will conclude with an in-person SDSU Alumni and Friends Reception on October 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the M Social Hotel in Times Square. All SDSU alumni are invited with an RSVP.

The first Broadway offering of the trip is the musical Waitress, the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Waitress will be performed in The Ethel Barrymore Theatre and is one of the first shows to return to Broadway after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the entire industry.

Also on the itinerary is a performance Ain’t Too Proud, The Life and Times of the Temptations, in its very first week back at the Imperial Theatre.

Other highlights of the trip include lunch with Broadway director Kenny Leon, a walking tour of Broadway with SDSU alumnus and NYC actor Jonathan Brugioni, and a private tour of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) with art curator and contemporary art professional Eric Shiner.

The Alumni and Friends Reception will take place on Oct. 20, from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. EST at the M Social Hotel in Times Square, 226 W 52nd St., NY. The event is open to all SDSU alumni, friends, family, and supporters and is still taking reservations. Attendees can expect live updates on SDSU and the PSFA programs, a meet and greet with Dean Peggy Shannon, and a reception to follow. Interested in attending? RSVP here.
