Summer Research Influences Student’s Career Path
While an undergraduate at SDSU, Nathaniel Rogers found the encouragement to pursue his education further.
Health communication major and Outstanding Graduate for the School of Communication, Rogers worked with assistant professor Dr. Rachel Record as a summer undergraduate researcher.
“This was a very influential experience because I have always had a lot of questions about the world but I have not always had a good understanding about how to seek answers to those questions,” Rogers said. “That summer experience helped me learn how to refine my questions and process.”
He respects the time, effort and ideas that are passed on by professors who “have spent years learning and practicing scholarship to pass to us [students].”
He hopes one day to be a researcher, educator and activist. Rogers will return to SDSU in the fall for his Master’s in Communication.
