Scholarships and Study Abroad Impact Student’s Success
Marissa McKinney is graduating as the president of the Skull & Dagger Dramatic Society at San Diego State University. Recognized by her peers for her leadership, she served as a house manager in SDSU’s theatres, training ushers in theatre responsibilities.
A recipient of multiple outside scholarships, McKinney is receiving her B.A. in Theatre Arts (Performance). While at SDSU, McKinney performed in several on campus theatre productions, including the recent “Anna in the Tropics,” and an all-female cast production of “Julius Caesar.” Her passion for the performing arts, as well as her academic and pre-professional theatre training, prepared her for her career in the arts.
In the Spring of 2017, McKinney traveled to Lima, Peru to participate in a weeklong acting intensive. Through her training at this intensive, and her years in the Theatre department at SDSU, she has honed her craft.
“This program has taught me that I have to master my own success,” McKinney said. “I have to make the choice to work to achieve my goals.”
Her goals include pursuing a professional acting career in both film and theatre.
