Overview

The Greece Summer Abroad program is an experiential introduction to the performance history and contemporary methodologies, mythologies, and practices of ancient Greek theatre, dance, and music studied through both an historical and contemporary lens. During this three-week, immersive trip, students are introduced to new forms of creative vocal and physical training while learning about Greece and its enormous contribution to Western Civilization. Students receive daily training in Vocal Preparation for the Outdoor Theatre; Greek Dancing; Greek Physical Acting; Devising Themed-Performance; and Rehearsal and Performance techniques for the Outdoor Amphitheater. Students attend workshops, rehearsals, and live performances throughout the program. Students also journal each day at a prescribed time, addressing prompts provided by the instructor.
