Music Performance and Education major Skyler Mackinnon performs on both the trombone and the euphonium. He has performed in both chamber music groups and solo performances at San Diego State University, as well as in guest performances with outside ensembles such as the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus. He participated in the 2018 US Air Force Collegiate Band Symposium, the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, and the California State Music Education Conference.
With a goal of teaching a high school scholastic band, and performing on the trombone and euphonium, Mackinnon received real world experience by learning and working in local public schools during his academic career.
“My four years at SDSU have taught me to not only acknowledge and appreciate all of the opportunities I receive in life, but to fully take advantage of them and apply myself every day,” Mackinnon said.
A recipient of a staggering seven scholarships, including the Conrad Prebys Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship and the Kiwanis Club of San Diego Music and Dance Scholarship, Mackinnon is well-recognized for his academic dedication, musical ability and positive energy.News List
