SDSU Art Council Scholarships to Art + Design Students
SDSU Art Council Ambassadors, a community organization dedicated to supporting the School of Art + Design at San Diego State University, bestowed its annual batch of scholarships and awards this past May to four talented and deserving SDSU students. Winners included graduate students Liz Koerner, Cathy Nguyen, and Leslie Shershow, and undergraduate student, Yvette M. Michalak. Another honoree, graduate student Danni Bao, received the 2017 Art Council Ambassadors Student Award Exhibition Purchase Award.
In addition to monetary awards, Art Council Ambassador scholarship winners are provided the exclusive opportunity to display their artwork at the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library in La Jolla. Since 2002, the School of Art + Design has partnered on an annual exhibition in which each winner receives the opportunity to present his or her artwork or thesis paper to the public in the Athenaeum’s Rotunda Gallery at an opening reception, as well as to participate in a month-long exhibition to showcase their work. Several Art Council Ambassadors coach the winning students in valuable public speaking and presentation skills to prepare them for this annual event.News List
