Photojournalism Students Documenting Life During the Covid-19 Stay-at-Home Order

A Day in the Life

by Peggy Peattie

Students in JMS 435: Photojournalism were assigned the task of visually documenting a “day in the life” of an interesting person or place in our community. They were to introduce us to a deeper understanding of the lives of people we may see every day but know very little about. Since the students are now “sheltering-in-place” like the rest of California, I asked them to document their own experience during this most unusual time. These bodies of work will have great significance for them as they reflect on what this time was like in their lives as they work through the complexities of finishing their college experience during a global pandemic.
