"Three of a Kind," a sitcom pilot produced by San Diego State University students Iris Caffin and Bonni Rooney, received the Outstanding Achievement for a Student Production Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and

Sciences Pacific Southwest Chapter. The award was announced at the academy's 34th Annual Pacific Southwest Emmy Awards ceremony at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. This is the first Emmy win for the SDSU Television, Theatre and Film Department for a live-to-tape multi-camera television project.

Saturday, September 20th marked the commissioning of the AROTC’s newest Second Lieutenant, Edwin Song.

Song, an advertising student, overcame tremendous odds in recovering from a serious knee injury to complete his fitness requirements while finishing his BA at SDSU. Upon completion of ordnance training, he will report to his assigned unit as a platoon leader at Fr. Irwin, CA with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Music and Dance
Leonard Patton
Leonard Patton (MM candidate in Jazz Studies) has been nominated in the category of “Best Jazz Album” for the San Diego Music Awards. The awards will be presented September 17 at Viejas Casino. He recently released a CD entitled "Love Life and Song" on the Lenju Music Group label.

Journalism and Media Studies
Four graduate students in the School of JMS accelerated masters program for military public affairs officers earned their national accreditation in public relations: Capt. Carrie Batson (USMC), LCDR Dave Benham (USN), Lt. Jim Krohne (USN), and Lt. Tamara Lawrence (USN).
PSFA Student Volunteers
Thirty-five outstanding students have joined ranks with the College Council as members of the first PSFA Volunteer Corps. All members have attended training, possess a 3.0 or higher grade point average and have faculty references. Members participated as hosts at the New Student and Parent Convocation and Transfer Reception on Saturday, August 30.
PSFA College Council and AS Reps Welcome a New Year
The College Council is the governing body for all students with majors and minors in the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. The Council meets regularly and provides an opportunity for leadership enhancement, involvement, networking, community service, and student advocacy.
The council is comprised of representatives from each of the Colleges' recognized clubs and organizations. Representatives provide advice and direction for many academic and programmatic issues that face the College. Additionally, clubs and organizations with a representative in good standing receive A.S. funding for food, travel and/or supplies.
Meetings are open and take place in PSFA 200 from 1:00-1:50 on Wednesdays. Scheduled meetings for fall 2008 are: September 17, 24, Oct. 1, 15, 29, Nov. 12, Dec. 3
