Yes, the international studies minor (ISM) requires a study abroad experience. In fact, two of the courses – PSFA501 and PSFA502 – are based on the study abroad experience. No, as long as it’s abroad and academic courses with supervision of SDSU professors.
  4. I’ve taken some courses at SDSU that are for my major, but are listed as electives for the ISM, can I “double dip” them?
No, you cannot “double dip” a course from your major (required or electives) for the international studies minor.
  5. Does it matter when I take the electives? If I’ve taken a course that’s on the elective list prior to declaring the minor, would it be counted if it’s not for my major?
Yes, it can be used toward the minor.
  6. I have studied abroad prior to signing up for the international studies minor, could I use it to fulfill the minor’s study abroad requirement?
Unfortunately, you cannot back track prior experiences into the ISM, because the specific requirement for the ISM is based on the completion of 501 and 502. * Only if you will be taking another study abroad experience after completing 350.

  8. If a course on the elective list is a GE courses that I’ve taken, can I use it for the ISM?
    Yes.
