With SDSU month in full swing, we have so many wonderful things happening and exciting news to share. As you read through this issue you will see that our college has many creative collaborations and diverse events planned. SDSU Month is a month-long celebration of San Diego State University's ties with the San Diego region. SDSU GETS KEYS FOR NEW DOWNTOWN GALLERY

This month PSFA officially received the keys from the Bosa Development Corporation for the Downtown Community Art Gallery in the new Electra building. This new gallery will showcase the work of our alumni students, faculty and international artists, but will also welcome both local residents and visitors to the region. Special thanks the Bosa Development Corporation for the generous gift of their space and the opportunity to become a vital arts destination in San Diego.
POLITICAL CAMPAIGN BOOT CAMP: HOW TO GAIN THE

PSFA along with the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, KUSI and LEAD San Diego, successfully completed San Diego's first Political Campaign Boot Camp last weekend. The two-day seminar featured local experts, including elected officials, campaign consultants, and members of the media who provided participants with practical advice and tools to use in preparing for a political campaign.

STUDENT RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM
More than 300 students participated in San Diego State University's first-ever Student Research Symposium (SRS), a two-day event highlighting the university's focus on undergraduate and graduate student research. Four outstanding students in PSFA were honored with awards:

FACULTY TO WATCH
We are continuing our series highlighting PSFA faculty members to watch as leaders in their field. The following young researchers in the College have bright futures ahead of them. We hope you enjoy this spotlight on our rising stars.
Valerie
Renegar
Dr. Renegar is an Associate Professor of Communication. She teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level in rhetorical theory, critical methods, feminist rhetoric, interaction and gender, and rhetorical movements.
Dr. Renegar's research interests include rhetorical theory and practice, feminist theory and criticism, postmodern theory and criticism, and the work and theory of Kenneth Burke. Her work in third wave feminist rhetorical theory represents an emerging field of knowledge in the discipline of communication. Her work has appeared in a range of different scholarly journals including Philosophy and Rhetoric, Communication Studies, and the Howard Journal of Communications.
Chuck Morgan
Dr.
Morgan recently joined the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences
as an Assistant Professor in Physical Education Pedagogy. He was an assistant
professor at the University of Hawaii for three years prior to his arrival
at SDSU. The majority of his research includes the study of youth physical
activity and overweight disparities, and biological, social, psychological,
and environmental factors that influence youth physical activity. He has
numerous peer reviewed publications and coauthored the National Association
for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Physical Activity Guidelines for
Children.
