Kathryn J. LaMaster, Ph.D.
Associate Dean
Dr. Kathryn LaMaster is an Associate Dean for the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at San Diego State University. In her role she oversees issues related to faculty affairs for eleven diverse departments/schools. The College has over 7,000 majors and 550 faculty and staff. Her previous managerial experiences included two years as interim Department Chair for the Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences and worked on special projects for the PSFA Dean’s Office.
In addition to her current managerial position, Dr. LaMaster also teaches in the Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences. She teaches courses in the physical education teacher education emphasis and is also the advisor for these students.
Dr. LaMaster is the author of over 25 refereed articles and book chapters and has presented over 50 papers on physical education, technology, collaboration, and inclusion. Her expertise is widely recognized and she is a Fellow in the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) Research Consortium. She has received several grants and has served as the evaluation expert for two Carol M. White Physical Education Program Grants supported by the Federal Government. She has been included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in both 2004 and 2005. Prior to her university career Dr. LaMaster taught physical education, coached and was an athletic and physical education administrator in Texas.
Dr. LaMaster holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education Teacher Education from The Ohio State University, and a M.S. and B.S. from Texas Christian University.
