PSFA provides linkages between college, community
and career. The 7,000 students and 350 faculty within PSFA
are engaged in the community through their academic
programs, research and creative endeavors. We prepare
quality undergraduate and graduate students to become
creative, healthy and responsible leaders and citizens.
Our students have the opportunities to learn through
interdisciplinary and collaborative projects on campus
and in the community. Our commitment to global and multicultural
understanding is weaved throughout the curriculum and
unique opportunities that are provided to students.
Technology continues to enrich the learning and teaching
experiences. We are innovative and known for ability
to serve as a resource to the region and beyond. With
over 35,000 alumni, we can say that we make a difference
in the quality of life in our communities.
A sample

- Public Forums on timely and
important issues that provide information on both sides of
critical topics are provided
by the School of Public Administration and Urban Studies.
- Our
Hospitality and Tourism Program has responded to a need for
workers in the region and continues to provide
interns, research, lectureships and professional development
for the tourism industry.
- The School of Theatre, Television
and Film offers a Theatre for Youth program, teaching cultural
legacies through
the drama experience.
- The School of Music and Dance produces
over 200 music and dance performances in the community and
on campus
each year.
- The Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences
promotes active living and healthy eating through many programs
including the Adult Fitness Program open to all.
- The San
Diego Ad Club is providing resources for classes to prepare
advertising students in the School of Communication
to participate in district, state and national competition.
- The
School of Art, Design and Art History bring the visual arts
and the community together through a critically acclaimed
gallery program featuring three gallery spaces.
- Students
and faculty in the Department of Child and Family Development
are actively working in the community in many
projects such as YMCA family programs and on research
such as Moms Helping Kids.
- Our ROTC programs in Navy, Army
and Air Force enroll students in leadership programs from
the many community
colleges and other universities within the San Diego area.
- The
Camp Able of Coronado through the Department of Recreation,
Parks and Tourism offers an aquatics program to approximately
8,000 disabled and disadvantaged young persons each
summer.
